What Is Zool ?

ZoolLinux Is a Mini-Distribution Based on Standard Linux Kernel . Useful for floppy-based rescue systems, or to check hardware and network connections. It supports many different filesystems and has many utilities. Zool5 , the last version come as a great Workstation version , support Dhcp Daemon and client , ftp , wget , nc (netcat) telnet server amdclient , and also a Httpd server . Using kernel 2.4.26 .

  • What is Zool ?

Zool is a Linux Based Operation System On one floppy disk .

  • Where its useful ?

this is usefull for Restoring system and Testing some hardware with Linux Systems . For Restoring system , a wide range of File Systems are now supported by Zool , even you can Restore your Windows Operation System , and all linux bassed systems , see Zool Pages for more Info

  • How to Get it ?

  • My screen goes black on boot or some crazy thing dance on screen!

you need a linuxbox to run this command : “rdev -v /dev/fd0 3”

  • System Require ?

a minimal systems , 18 MB ram , a floppy drive and a X11 supported Graphic card for 16-bit Console . you dont need a Hard Disk . A Generic Network card for Networking . for example , Zool3 supports Nic2000 chips .

  • Why i should use an older version ?

Zool2 comeout with many file systems , but Zool3 only supports reiserfs , ext2/3 , fat 16,32 and NTFS maybe you need to restore a minix bassed system , you shall use zool2 , also zool1 supports BASH .

  • i get an error on writing image to floppy disk !

Change floppy disk , make sure to use healthy one ! :)
